Société Générale has appointed Raphael Vialat as its head of sustainability and impact advisory for the Asia-Pacific region, succeeding Paul-Antoine Thiebot, who will be taking on a new position at the bank as its managing director of battery, mining and industries and the energy-plus group for Asia-Pacific.

Vialat will continue to advance the bank’s regional mandate of the sustainability and impact advisory, with a key focus on empowering clients to achieve their sustainability goals. This will be driven by the development of innovative products and advisory services across different areas, including environmental, social and governance ( ESG ) corporate advisory, sustainable finance, ESG asset advisory and impact investment advisory, alongside an expanded cross-sectorial approach.

As well, Vialat will leverage his experience and expertise to strengthen the bank’s ESG capabilities both internally and externally. This includes raising awareness and sharing insights on emerging ESG trends, as well as supporting ongoing efforts to enhance the group’s sustainability profile, capabilities and participation in collaborative initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region.

He will remain based in Singapore, where he previously served as the bank’s head of environmental and social ( E&S ) client expert team for Asia-Pacific. In his new role, Vialat reports locally to Alvaro Huete, group country head for Singapore and Southeast Asia, regionally to Stephanie Clement de Givry, head of global banking and advisory for Asia-Pacific, and functionally to Eric Bonnin, global head of sustainability and impact advisory.

Vialat has over 14 years of ESG experience. He began his career at the bank in 2007, contributing to the development of E&S assessment processes for global banking and investor solutions clients. Since 2011, he has been a key member of the sustainability and impact advisory team, helping shape ESG methodologies and integrate sustainability into banking operations. In 2022, he moved to Singapore as the bank’s head of the E&S client expert team for Asia-Pacific, supporting clients’ sustainability journeys.
