Aviva Investors, the global asset management business of British insurer Aviva plc, has appointed Mirza Baig to the new role of global head of ESG, subject to regulatory approval.
Baig will report directly to Mark Versey and join Aviva Investors’ executive team to lead and coordinate environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy, delivery and commercialization across the global business, including in Asia-Pacific. A key part of Baig’s new role will be to set firm-wide ESG strategy, bringing together the different ESG-focused teams working across Aviva Investors.
Previously, Baig held the role of global head of ESG investments, managing a team of eight sustainability specialists.
Commenting on the appointment, Versey says: “Mirza’s promotion is just reward for the role he has played in driving our ESG agenda, accelerating the integration of ESG into our investment process, the build-out of our sustainable outcomes franchise and enhancing our active engagement programme.”
