International law firm Simmons & Simmons has appointed Emily Monastiriotis as new managing partner.
She will take up the role from May 1st, succeeding Jeremy Hoyland, who has held the position since 2011.
Monastiriotis has held several senior leadership roles. She is currently international head of dispute resolution, and also sits on the firm’s international executive committee.
She made her name in the profession as a specialist in construction disputes and as a market leading expert on fire safety cases.
Beyond her expertise in dispute resolution, Monastiriotis has successfully spearheaded a number of initiatives at the firm to leverage technology to enhance legal practice, while embracing the firm’s development and adoption of artificial intelligence.
She is also the partner lead for the firm’s mentoring scheme.
Currently based in London, Monastiriotis studied at Durham University in the United Kingdom, after relocating from her childhood home in Greece.
She started her career in law in 2000 and joined Simmons as partner in 2017. Having previously been UK head of dispute resolution, Monastiriotis was appointed international practice group head of dispute resolution in 2022 and joined the firm’s international executive committee.
