US-headquartered bank Citi has appointed Anders Svensson as managing director, head of natural resources group for the Australia and New Zealand ( ANZ ) capital markets and advisory ( CMA ) team.
In this role, Svensson will work closely with Rowan King, who continues as head of metals and mining, based in Perth. Together, both will drive the continued growth of Citi's natural resources coverage.
Svensson joins from Morgan Stanley, where as a managing director, he gained over two decades of extensive experience across natural resources, encompassing both oil and gas, and metals and mining.
The bank has a leading global natural resources franchise and a strong existing bench both globally and locally, as evidenced by its recent roles in Nippon Steel’s US$14 billion acquisition of US Steel, BHP’s US$6.4 billion acquisition of Oz Minerals and Glencore's US$6.9 billion acquisition of Elk Valley Resources.
This strategic appointment follows a significant period of growth for its ANZ CMA business, highlighted by the recent appointments of Ben Bartholomaeus to lead healthcare coverage and Kriss Pachauri to further strengthen Citi’s sponsor coverage.
